Kenny Gwelko, 11 (front) and his friend Dakota Bauer, 11, both from Western Lehigh work on their soccer skills by kicking and heading the ball over a small net during the 4th annual Sarah Parvin 24-Hour Memorial Soccerfest will be held Saturday and Sunday to benefit cancer research. Organizers expect 215 teams, 14 fields playing simultaneously and 8,000-10,000 people turning out. Sarah was a member of the Quakertown Soccer Club. Several Hawks have signed up to participate in the Lehigh Valley Road Runners Kids Summer Series

This is a FREE event offered to all children in the Lehigh Valley. Every other Saturday morning throughout the summer bring your kids over to Lehigh Parkway and register them to run in the Annual Kids Summer Series, an event just for kids! Children who run in 5 of the 7 events will receive a free t-shirt.

The 11-12 and 13-14 age groups are eligible for overall series award on the final day of the series. 1st, 2nd and 3rd place for boys and girls will be based on finishes in at least 4 out of the 6 races offered. Scoring is cross country format  – points are earned by placement in the event. 1st place = 1 point, 2nd place = 2 points, 3rd place = 3 points. The goal is to score the lowest number of points.

Team Hope

Posted by: Coach  :  Category: Team News

Thanks Amanda Thoet (Coach Thoet’s daughter) for putting this team together for such a great cause.

Amanda is a senior at Emmaus High School and the captain of the Cross Country Team.

Team Hope consisted of members from Emmaus High School’s Interact Club, Track & Field Team, Western Lehigh Soccer, Air Products and Chemicals Inc., The Emmaus Rotary Club, Southern Lehigh School District Faculty, and members of the community.

Team Hope raised over $2,600 and was the second largest team at the event. Team Hope also won most team spirited award.

The goal was met to send over 12 families to Camp Sunshine. Camp Sunshine supports children with life threatening illnesses and their families.  The camp has the distinction of being the only program in the nation whose mission is to address the impact of a life threatening illness on every member of the immediate  family—the ill child, the parents, and the siblings.

We would also like to thank Dr. Frey Orthodontics for being our team t-shirt sponsor.
